IMPI announces an important first: The Food Safety Panel. The safety of microwaved foods is of increasing concern to consumers and the government. The potential for food-borne illness has become especially important due to the advent of Not-Ready-to-Eat (NRTE) microwavable products. The panel consists of representatives of the USDA-FSIS, the American Frozen Food Institute (AFFI) and a major food processor.
